Smashed Windows, Grabbing Phone Leads To Assault, Other Charges

Mike Durgin was arrested and held after an alleged domestic argument and criminal mischief incident that led to charges in the North End.

CONCORD, NH — A local man was arrested and held after refusing bail after a domestic dispute on Walker Street recently, according to a report. Mike W. Durgin Jr., 38, of Mount Vernon Terrace in Webster, was arrested on Nov. 18, 2017, and charged with domestic violence-simple assault, simple assault, and criminal mischief-vandalism. Officers were sent to a North End home at around 8 a.m. for a report of a domestic assault in progress.

They met with a woman outside of a residence as well as a neighbor who stated that a white man with neck tattoos had just fled the scene. Another officer caught up with a man fitting the description a short time later, according to an affidavit.

The woman stated that she didn’t come home last night and Durgin was angry about it. The officer noted that she didn’t seem injured and she stated that she was OK.

Inside of the home, the reporting officer saw broken glass on the main entryway floor as well as multiple small panes of glass that had been shattered. The victim – who had blood on her jacket, including fingerprint size smudges on a lower sleeve – stated that Durgin was allegedly attempting to get her cellphone, “to find out where she was last night.” When asked what else had happened, the victim reportedly stated that Durgin didn’t need any more trouble.

Just down the road, the reporting officer spoke with Durgin, who reportedly had a red bandana wrapped around his right hand. His hand had “a moderate amount of blood coming from his hand” and Durgin allegedly pulled it back while speaking with the reporting officer.

Durgin stated that he knew he screwed up and admitted to breaking the windows,” the officer alleged.

After a pat down, the officer allegedly found Durgin with the victim’s smartphone and he was arrested.

Durgin refused bail and was held and arraigned on Nov. 20.

Durgin, according to previous reports, has had a number of run-ins with law enforcement during the past four years. He was arrested for unarmed robbery in in January 2017, after reportedly stealing items from a Vape shop on Loudon Road. In May of last year, he was arrested for criminal liability for the conduct of another at Walmart on Loudon Road. He was indicted later that year on theft charges from Hannaford and Speedway, too.

In 2016, he was indicted on numerous drug dealing charges from May 2016, in Boscawen, Concord, and Hooksett. In November 2016, he was arrested on a drug dealing charge.

Durgin was previously convicted of possession of a narcotic in Merrimack Count Superior Court in October 2014.

On Christmas Day in 2013, he was arrested by state police on warrants for theft by unauthorized taking, theft-larceny from a building, acts prohibited, all felonies, as well as a felony possession of a controlled drug charge. The warrants were out of Hillsboro County Superior Court for controlled drug act and Merrimack County Superior Court for failing to appear for a theft by unauthorized taking charge.
