Mirsky: Defeat ISIS with Unity and Strength
It's time for Americans to stick together.
The first thing to keep in mind after our civilization has been attacked, and innocent people killed for no reason while relaxing on an otherwise peaceful Friday night, November 13, 2105, in the cultural center of Paris, is to keep your cool and stick together. This is not a time to show division or despair to the enemy, ISIS. We need to go about our business and give support to our leaders, our first responders, each other. Maybe a little less coverage of panic in the streets by CNN would also help.
I am hoping to find in the next couple of months here in New Hampshire, before the first-in-the-nation primary, a sense of unity and common purpose. Yes, we are about to choose a new president, but we are not about to overthrow the ideals that have made our country great: life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and also friends, family, football, and faith, hope and charity.

Our ideals are worth fighting for. The enemy is bent on mass destruction and chaos, and is controlled by people who are under a spell of religious delusion, a religion of their own making based on sadism and brutality as a way of life. To fight back effectively and defeat ISIS, as we will, we can’t let ISIS dictate our state of mind. We have to keep cool. And, as that Great American football coach, Bill Belichick, says, we all have to do our jobs.

We have become very bitter with each other over the past several years, there has been great upheaval, economic dislocation, change. We need to set that aside and proceed with our political process is a calm, reflective manner, while working together to defeat our common enemy, which is a group of terrorists over in the Middle East who seek to kill us and to destroy everything.
Policy disputes will no doubt continue to occur, but what is needed right now is for all of us to be cool, calm, collected, and unified.
