A Warning for NH Drivers: Another Sobriety Checkpoint is Coming
New Hampshire State Police are holding a sobriety checkpoint in the Granite State this week.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — New Hampshire state troopers from Troop A will be hosting a sobriety checkpoint in the Portsmouth area the week of Aug. 7, 2016, according to a press statement. According to a notice from Lt. Chris Vetter of the NHSP, the checkpoint has been approved by a superior court petition and is being conducted due to “increased incidents of drinking and driving” in the state.
“The program, approved by the NH Highway Safety Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provides federal highway safety funds to support this checkpoint, which will be conducted in the Portsmouth area,” he noted. “A review of records has shown that the use of alcohol by individuals who operate motor vehicles has resulted in an alarming number of deaths and personal injury accidents.”
