Janoris Jenkins Issues Statement About Death At His Home

The Giants player's brother is accused of killing Roosevelt Rene, 25, at Jenkins' home.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A week after the body of Roosevelt Rene, 25, was found in Giants football player Janoris Jenkins' Fair Lawn home, the football player has issued a statement lamenting the loss of his friend.

"With Regret and sadness I wish to inform the fans, and the public a good friend of mine Roosevelt Rene a.k.a. Trypps Beats was found dead at my place of residence," Jenkins wrote on his Instagram. "Trypps was a good friend and we were collaborating on music production together."

Jenkins reiterated that he was in Florida at the time Rene was killed, something multiple media outlets reported. His lawyer reportedly advised him to stay in the state during the early stages of the investigation.

Rene, 25, was found in the Jenkins brothers' Van Saun Place home last Tuesday, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo. Fair Lawn Police received a call about the body just before 10:30 a.m., Fair Lawn Police Sgt. Brian Metzler confirmed.

Rene was a hip-hop and R&B music producer known as Trypps Beatz. The Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on Rene's body to determine the cause of death.

An autopsy on Rene's body was scheduled for Wednesday morning, Fair Lawn Police said. The prosecutor's office said it would release more information once it becomes available.

The New York Giants are "aware of and monitoring the situation," according to multiple reports.
