Coronavirus: 3 Long Island SAT Exams Canceled This Weekend
Students at the three locations will get refunds for the test cost, the College Board said.
LONG ISLAND, NY — The College Board announced that it is cancelling multiple SAT tests in the New York area this weekend in response to the spread of the new coronavirus in the area.
The College Board, the organization that administers the SATs, said it would fully refund the test price for students whose tests were canceled. The organization is cancelling tests at 18 New York locations this weekend.
"College Board is monitoring the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and as the situation continues to rapidly evolve, we are focused on the health and safety of students, educators, and their communities," the organization wrote on its website. "We recognize that this is a challenging time and we wish to extend our support however possible."

The cancellations affect three Long Island locations: The Hebrew Academy of Nassau County, located in Uniondale; Journey Prep School, located in Farmingdale; and Westbury High School, located in Old Westbury. Makeup tests have not be scheduled for the Hewbrew Academy or Westbury High School exams. Students who were to take the test at Journey Prep School should instead report to Amityville Memorial High School, at 250 Merrick Road in Amityville.

Nassau County continues to have the highest number of cases on Long Island, now reaching 40. One of those is in serious condition, county officials said at a press conference Thursday, and 10 people are currently hospitalized. One of the patients in Nassau County is an 81-year-old woman who was living at Bristal Assisted Living at North Hills. Officials said she is hospitalized, but that she is not the patient in critical condition.
Suffolk county saw its cases jump yesterday, going from one to six overnight, bringing the total on Long Island to 46. There are 274 people in mandatory or precautionary quarantine in Nassau, and eight in mandatory quarantine in Suffolk.
"We will get through this, but we need your help," said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. "Containing community spread is the best thing we can do to protect ourselves and protect our communities."
