Nassau Cops to Boost Patrols for Passover, Easter

County officials announce increased police presence near houses of worship for holidays.

Nassau County Police will intensify patrols near houses of worship during Passover and Easter holidays.

County Executive Ed Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter announced Tuesday that areas near temples, synagogues, churches, and other places of worship will see an increased police presence in the coming days.

Police intelligence are predetermining areas of focus in the county based on history of incidents. Those areas in particular are set to see augmented patrols.

While no specific threat has been made against Nassau County, Mangano encouraged all residents to be vigilant and follow the “See Something, Say Something” rule.

“The Nassau County Police Department will take any and all threats to public safety seriously as nothing is more important than the safety of our residents,” he said, adding, “Residents can help be the eyes and ears for the police department.”

Officials said Nassau residents should be cautious and should not assume packages, boxes, or bags left unattended are innocent. Any unattended package near a church, temple, synagogue, train station, house of worship, mall, or any other high traffic area should be immediately reported to police via 911.
