Police: Man Returning to North Bay Shore Home Shot Dead by Man Inside
Fatal shooting occurred Friday night.

A man was shot and killed Friday night inside his North Bay Shore home, police said.
The shooting occurred at 1681 N. Gardiner Drive shortly before 10 p.m.
Police say 41-year-old James Creekmore was returning home when he was shot by an unknown man upon entering the residence.

The suspect then fled the scene, police said.
Prior to the shooting, the suspect had been ”fumbling with the lock at the home” when someone in the home opened the door, allowing the man to walk inside, CBS 2 reported.

Creekmore was pronounced dead at the scene.
News 12 reported that the suspect was wearing a mask and that there were children inside the home at the time of the shooting.
“It’s too early in the investigation to tell if he was a targeted individual,” Suffolk County Police Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer told CBS of Creekmore.
