Trump 'Enjoyed' Talking With Man Who Boasted Of Death Squads
The president had a "friendly conversation" with the president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, over the weekend and invited him to the White House. The administration said Trump talked about how Duterte's country is "fighting very hard" against the scourge of drugs. What the White House didn't mention is how death squads that Duterte has boasted of are linked to thousands of deaths. (Patch).

The founder of Facebook has been traveling the country, working on visiting families in all 50 states. He had asked his staff to find Democrats who had switched sides in the 2016 election. He ended up with the Moore family of Newton Falls, Ohio. (Patch).
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, First Latina In Congress, Stepping Down
She has represented Miami in the House of Representatives for nearly 30 years. She spent nearly a decade in the state house before that. Now, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has decided it's time for someone else to step up to the plate. The powerhouse, who was not only the first Cuban-American in Congress but the first Latina, is stepping down at the end of her term. (Patch).
Remembering Man 'Determined To Do Things That Were Great'
Nicholas Paggi's family should not be getting ready for his funeral. But they are. He was 24 when he died last week. The MIT graduate was someone "determined to do things that were great," his family says. And he had just been getting started. (Patch).
Biden 2020? Joe Fuels Speculation With NH Appearance
Setting the rumor mill on high, Joe Biden appeared at a Democratic fundraiser in New Hampshire Sunday night. The annual fundraiser is usually a big event for Dem hopefuls; last year Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders attended. It's also possible that Biden was just looking for a good chicken dinner. Fort Bragg Solider Killed By Explosive In Iraq
First Lt. Weston Lee, a 25-year-old from Bluffon, Georgia, was part of a security mission in Mosul, Iraq, on Saturday when he was killed by an explosive device. He joined the Army in March 2015 and was deployed to Iraq last December. (Patch).
Election 2016 Fallout Continues As Fox Pulls Out Of Polling Group
Fox News, saying it has concerns about the polling work of a consortium it has belonged to, has pulled out of the group. The station says it's had these concerns, but the 2016 exit polls — which predicted wins for Hillary Clinton where none emerged — were the final straw. (Patch).
Eight Wounded In La Jolla Shooting
San Diego police say it happened in the pool area of a La Jolla apartment building. The shooter was taken down. (Patch).
Brown Recluse Spiders In Michigan — Not Supposed To Happen
It's like the insect version of alligators being found in Michigan. Brown recluse spiders, known for their venomous bites, are known to like the warm climate of southern states. Now, they've been found on the floor of an unheated garage floor in Flint, Michigan. Scientists want to know how they survived the winter. (Patch).

Beer Saves Lives — Or At Least The Beer Cooler Did
Three fishermen were rescued after their boat sank, and they were found clinging to their beer cooler near Key Biscayne, Florida. Their cell phones had been in a plastic jar and floated to them as they hung, on and they managed a call to 911 before the phones died. (Patch).

Seth and Bethany Mandel were racing down Route 1 on the way to hospital so she could deliver their son. The son wouldn't wait. As Seth calmed the nerves of the 911 dispatcher, he also delivered his son. (Patch).
