2 Displaced From Mount Vernon Home After Fire

No one was injured when a fire broke out in a bedroom at the townhouse, the fire department says.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Two people were displaced after a townhouse fire in Mount Vernon Wednesday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters responded to the townhouse in the 8700 block of Walutes Circle around 11:47 a.m. Two residents were home and were alerted to the fire by the smoke alarm. There were no injuries.

Fire investigators say the fire started in a second floor bedroom due to a damaged electrical cord. Damages were estimated to be $18,750.
