Armed Robbery Tuesday at Party Supplies Store: Police

Police say a local store was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday in the Mount Vernon Plaza Shopping Center.

Police are investigating the armed robbery that occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at American Balloon Company at 7700 Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley.

A man entered the store, produced a gun and demanded store personnel to move into a storage room in the rear of the business, police said. He then took money and fled, according to police. There were no injuries, police said.

The suspect was described as black, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, and in his 20s or 30s, police said. He wore a dark shirt and jean shorts, according to police.
