Attempt To Hire Hitman Earns Man Prison Time
A man has been sentenced after he hired a hitman to kill a Fairfax County homeowner. That hitman ended up being a cop.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—A man caught trying to pay a hitman to kill a Fairfax County homeowner last year has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Daniel Jamison, a contractor, got caught by hiring an undercover cop as the hitman to kill a homeowner in the Alexandria area of the county, The Washington Post reports. The cop was recording a video as Jamison said he'd pay $10,000 for murdering the homeowner and $500 for the murder weapon.
The homeowner had hired Jamison to a $41,000 contract in February 2016, according to court documents. Prosecutors say the contractor only completed a portion of the work. The homeowner pursued charges when he was unable to get money back or the work completed.

Jamison took an Alford plea, proclaiming he was innocent but that there was enough evidence to prove he was guilty. It wasn't the first case relating to his contracting work, as he served one year each in Arlington and Stafford counties after pleading guilty to construction fraud in 2006. He had also pleaded guilty to working without a contractor’s license in Fairfax County during 2011.
