Bystanders Thwart Pizza Delivery Robbery

Residents came to the rescue of a pizza delivery driver being robbed in Groveton.

GROVETON, VA—The weekend was not off to a good start for a pizza delivery driver in Groveton when he got robbed. But thanks to a few local heroes, it could have been a lot worse.

Around 9:40 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, the driver was making a delivery when approached by four men in the 3600 block of Robert E. Lee Place. One of the men grabbed the victim and held him while the others went through his pockets.

The victim yelled for help, and some local residents came to his rescue. The unknown suspects fled without taking anything. The victim was not injured.

The unknown suspects were described as black between 20 and 30 years old. They were around 5 foot 9 and dressed in all dark clothing. The investigation continues.
