Car Stolen In Grocery Store Lot On Richmond Highway: Police

The suspect struck a parked car as he drove away, Fairfax County Police say.

A suspect is wanted for stealing a car in a grocery store parking lot Thursday on Richmond Highway, Fairfax County Police say.

The victims were unloading groceries in their car in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway when the suspect asked if they needed help. As they put the shopping cart away, the suspect got into their car and drove off, according to police.

The suspect reportedly struck a pole and hit an unoccupied car, which was pushed into another car. He continued through the parking lot onto Richmond Highway. An immediate search for the stolen vehicle was unsuccessful.

Police did not name the specific location of the incident, but Walmart is the only grocery store in the 6300 block.

The suspect is described as black man in his 30s with a slim build and wearing a burgundy jacket, dark pants and a dark ball cap. A description of the car was not released.
