Fire Under Investigation In Belle Haven Motel Room
Around 40 people were at the motel when the fire broke out, according to the fire department.

BELLE HAVEN, VA—A fire at Belle Haven's Virginia Lodge Motel Monday, Nov. 5 remains under investigation, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Around 11:08 a.m., Fairfax County and Alexandria firefighters responded to the 6000 block of Richmond Highway. Units found a fire in a ground-level guest room and quickly put out the fire.
Around 40 people were in the motel when the fire happened. A guest notified an employee to smoke coming from the area. The employee found the fire and alerted other guests. No injuries were reported.

The fire department says smoke alarms were working, but it was unclear if they activated. The building does not have a fire sprinkler system.
Although fire damage was contained to the room, there was smoke damage to adjacent rooms and an awning area. Guests in the adjacent rooms were moved to other rooms. Initial damage estimates are $50,000.
