Man Charged In Apartment Shooting In Groveton

Detectives are still trying to identify a second suspect in a shooting at an apartment on Lockheed Boulevard.

GROVETON, VA — A man has been charged in a June 26 shooting that injured one person in Groveton, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police responded to the 3300 block of Lockheed Boulevard around 11:58 a.m. on June 26 for a man with multiple upper body gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives determine two armed suspects confronted two men at an apartment. Only one of the victims had been struck by the gunfire.

While detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence, a resident identified the suspect as Isaiah Johnson, 27, of Alexandria. Police obtained warrants to charge Johnson with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

On Tuesday, detectives arrested Johnson during a traffic stop as he entered Fairfax County. Police found a "ghost" gun, which is an unregistered gun that can be assembled at home. Along with the warrants from the shooting, Johnson faces charges from the traffic stop: possession of schedule I/II drug, possession of schedule I/II drug with firearm on person, possession of firearm by non-violent felon, felon in possession of ammunition, and a concealed carry permit violation. Johnson was taken to the Fairfax County Detention Center and held without bond.

Detectives are working to identify the second suspect in the shooting.
