Mount Vernon Sobriety Checkpoint This Saturday
Fairfax County Police have announced a sobriety checkpoint on Richmond Highway this weekend.

MOUNT VERNON, VA—Drunk drivers, beware: police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the Mount Vernon District Saturday night.
The checkpoint will happen in the Huntington area at Richmond Highway (Route 1) and Mount Eagle Drive.
When Fairfax County Police conduct checkpoints, hundred of drivers pass through and are screened for alcohol use. Last year, 1,980 people were charged with driving under the influence in Fairfax County. That's an increase of over 100 from the previous year.

A time has not been announced, but checkpoints typically happen in the late hours of the night. Police remind residents to not drink and drive. In Virginia, the legal limit of blood alcohol concentration is 0.08 percent.
