No Money, No Problem: Man Attempts To Steal Laundry Bag

A man tried to take an elderly woman's bag of clothing at a Hybla Valley laundromat. Plus, more in the weekend crime recap.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA—A man was arrested after an attempted robbery at a Hybla Valley laundromat Saturday, but it wasn't money he was after.

Around 3:50 a.m. a 68-year-old woman was leaving Forest Laundromat in the 7500 block of Richmond Highway when a man attempted to steal laundry bag. The bag ripped and the suspect left without taking any items.

Officers found George Redmond, 61, nearby and arrested him. He is charged with attempted robbery.

Attempted Burglary: 7900 block of Penn Place. Between 11:30 p.m. on 8/26 and 9:30 a.m. on 8/27/17. The outside of a home was tampered with as if someone attempted to gain entry. They did not get inside and nothing was taken or damaged.

Commercial Burglary: 6300 block of South Kings Highway. 8/25/17 around 11 p.m.A man entered the business and began to steal merchandise. When confronted by an employee, the suspect assaulted him and continued to take items. The suspect was described as black, about 6 feet tall, and in his 30s. The victim did not require medical attention.

Commercial Burglary: 7700 block of Richmond Highway (AT&T), 8/27/17 around 2:40 a.m. A business was broken into and merchandise was taken.
