No Charges Expected For U.S. 1 Crash In Alexandria
The man struck crossing U.S. 1 in the Alexandria area was not in a crosswalk, police say.

(Updated 6:41 p.m. Wednesday) ALEXANDRIA, VA—A pedestrian crossing U.S. 1 (Richmond Highway) in the Alexandria area was struck and killed by a car early Sunday, Fairfax County Police say.
Gerson Rodriguez Cruz, 22, of Alexandria was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say speed and alcohol were not involved no charges are pending. Around 3 a.m., police say the pedestrian was crossing U.S. 1 when struck by the car. The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police. The victim was not at a crosswalk when he was struck, according to police.

U.S. 1 was closed for about three hours between Woodlawn Trail and Lockheed Boulevard for the accident investigation.
