As Jackson and another man were leaving the store, a loss prevention specialist with Wal-Mart followed them. The specialist, a 23-year-old man, believed that one of the pair had concealed merchandise and was trying to leave the store with it.
The two took off running; the loss prevention specialist saw one of them, identified as Jackson, run past him, and then turn toward him. "The victim heard what sounded like a gunshot but did not see a weapon," the police said.
