Police: Heavy-Set Bearded Man Attempts Burglary, Assaults Resident

A heavy-set bearded man banged on a resident’s door early Tuesday morning and assaulted the resident as he tried to get inside the home, in the 8500 block of Greenleaf Street just off Richmond Highway, according to Fairfax County Police. (See map of location above.)

The attempted burglary and assault took place Tuesday at about 1:14 a.m., according to police.

The victim was at home when there was a loud bang at the front door, according to police. An unknown man attempted to enter the residence and assaulted the victim, police said.

The victim incurred non-life- threatening injuries, police said. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, heavy set with a beard, fled in an unknown direction, according to police.
