Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Attempted Abduction

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed to be responsible for an attempted abduction that occurred last Thursday, Aug. 27, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Last Thursday, around 11:37 a.m., a woman was walking near the Pinewood South apartments in the 4200 block of Buckman Road (see map).

The woman, 47, was approached by a man who grabbed her and attempted to drag her to a vehicle, police said. The victim resisted and was assisted by a good Samaritan who was driving by, according to police. The suspect fled in a silver-colored, four-door-sedan, police said. The victim did not require medical attention, according to police.

The suspect was described as black, in his late 20s to early 30s, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build and medium-length black hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, gray pants and sneakers. Detectives would also like to speak with the passerby who assisted the victim.
