Robbers Who Assaulted Alexandria Man Are At Large: Police

A passerby yelled at them during the incident, and they fled the scene, say Fairfax County police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Fairfax County police are looking for two men who mugged a 42-year-old man Monday night in a neighborhood near Richmond Highway (Route 1). The two robbers fled when a passerby came upon the scene and yelled at them to stop, according to a police report

The incident occurred at about 8:44 p.m. in the 7100 block of Mint Place, the police report stated. The victim was walking toward his apartment building when he was approached by two men who asked him for money.

The victim tried to run away, but the robbers "caught him, knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched him," the police report said.

A passerby saw the assault and yelled at the two men, causing them to stop the assault and run away, the police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police describe the two robbers as black, in their early 20s, both skinny and wearing all-black clothing.
