Shooting, Other Incidents Investigated In Mount Vernon District
Another Janna Lee Avenue shooting was reported after a shooting that injured five victims on July 7.
MOUNT VERNON, VA — Fairfax County Police are investigating a Friday shooting and other incidents this week in the Mount Vernon Police District.
Police responded to the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue around 12:11 a.m. Friday for a report of gunshots. Officers found a handgun and several shell casings, as well as damage to multiple vehicles. A victim was identified after arriving at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The incident happened in the same area as the July 7 shooting that injured five victims between ages 14 and 19. The five victims had non-life-threatening injuries, and police have not announced an arrest.

3500 block of Buckman Road, Mount Vernon, 7/13/20, 2:20 a.m. A homeowner heard what they thought were fireworks overnight. Later in the morning, bullet holes were discovered in an SUV along with shell casings on the ground. There were also bullet holes in two apartment windows. There were no reported injuries.

7500 block of Republic Court, Hybla Valley, 7/15/20, 11:05 p.m. Three men confronted a food delivery driver. One of the men assaulted him and stole his personal property while the other two men got into his 2019 Toyota sedan. The men attempted to take the sedan but ran away when approached by a security guard who heard the commotion. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Richmond Highway/Janna Lee Avenue, Mount Vernon, 7/16/20, 2:25 a.m. Officers stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Impala that had been reported stolen. The driver, Trevian Smith-Richardson, 24, of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for a misdemeanor offense was served.
