Tractor-Trailer Rig Flips Over on Beltway: Fire Department
The driver was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries early Thursday, says Fairfax County Fire Department.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A truck driver is being treated at a local hospital for serious injuries after his tractor-trailer flipped over on the Beltway early Thursday morning, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department
Fire and rescue units responded at about 1:29 a.m. Thursday to the report of a tractor-trailer crash in the southbound lanes (outer loop) of Interstate 495 prior to the I-95 interchange, in the Springfield area, the Fire Department said.
The first units on the scene found "a tractor trailer that had flipped over after apparently hitting a guardrail," the Fire Department said. The driver was trapped inside the rig.

Personnel from Fire Station 26, on Edsall Road, quickly freed the driver. "The driver was transported to an area trauma center with life-threatening injuries," the Fire Department said.
No firefighter injuries were reported in the incident, the department added.
