Two Alexandria Men Arrested For Drug Offenses

Fairfax County Police arrested two men in drug-related crimes within an hour in the Alexandria area.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested and charged two Alexandria men in drug-related crimes Thursday. The arrests occurred nearby each other within about a half hour.

Around 6:30 p.m., police spotted an illegally parked car at the 8200 block of Richmond Highway and contacted the owner. After smelling marijuana, police found the car's owner had individually-packed drugs and a gun.

Dion Washington, 33, of Alexandria was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of a concealed weapon.

About a half hour later, police stopped a car for a traffic violation at the 8000 block oj Janna Lee Avenue. The driver stepped out of the car and became disorderly, and police found marijuana inside the car. As police continued to investigate, the suspect assaulted one of the officers.

Chauvez Diggins, 23, of Alexandria was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with assault on law enforcement, disorderly conduct, driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
