Woman Robbed at Gunpoint While Walking to Work: Police

Fairfax County Police are investigating the armed robbery of a female pedestrian early Thursday along Richmond Highway.

The woman was on her way to work, walking in the 7700 block of Richmond Highway, when at about 6 a.m., a man robbed her at gunpoint, taking her purse, police said.

The woman, 53, did not require medical attention; items from her purse were recovered nearby, police said.

The suspect was described as black, between the ages of 20 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 pounds. He wore jogging clothes, police said.
