Franconia Museum to Host Annual History Day on Sunday

The Franconia Museum will host its annual History Day event this weekend on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Franconia Volunteer Fire Department.

The free event will also mark the release of the latest book in the Franconia Museum's “Franconia Remembers” book series, according to a press release. The book, titled “Volume VII” is described as “a history of the Franconia VFD from its beginnings in 1934... It includes chapters on the early days, significant events, fundraisers, carnivals and parades. Mostly it is a testament to the volunteer spirit that built Franconia VFD and remains in force today.” The book costs $26.25 (with tax) and will be on sale at the Franconia Museum and online through the museum’s website.

History Day is open from Noon to 5 p.m. will feature a variety of events through th five hours. There will be a ceremony to kickoff the event at 1 p.m. and a magic show at 3 p.m. for children of all ages, the release states.

There will be food on sale such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and food donated from Roy Rogers in Manchester Lakes and Dove Heating and Air Conditioning and Sherman Properties. All proceeds from sales g to benefit the Franconia Museum.

Local businesses such as Nalls Produce have also donated volunteers and table decorations. The release additionally states that the cost of producing the book was offset partly by a donation from the Nalls family in memory of Buddy and Betty Nalls.
