Springfield 12-Car Accident Injures Five

Five people were injured in a 12-car crash on Old Keene Mill Road. The five people were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Fairfax County Police reported the incident during the evening rush hour Tuesday on Old Keene Mill Road at Spring Road, right next to the Springfield Plaza shopping center.

Springfield Plaza Murder: Suspect Faces Charges

A suspect has been arrested and charged in a homicide at Springfield Plaza and faces murder charges.
Police responded to a report of an injured man on the ground outside. Kieron Hart, 29, of Springfield was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead at 3 a.m. Police say the incident originated from an alley argument, and the victim had severe upper body injuries from a stabbing. Around the same time found and arrested Jay Fasick, 30, of Springfield, who was breaking into a pet store. Investigations show Fasick broke into the pet store after the alley argument.

Snakes Becoming More Active In Fairfax County: Police

Fairfax County residents can encounter snakes more frequently as temperatures rise, when they become more active. While most of the wide variety of snake species in Fairfax County are non-venomous, not all of them can be safely ignored. The Northern copperhead lives in Fairfax County, and its venom can be potentially deadly. Police shared tips with residents when encountering snakes.

Coroner Investigates Death Of U-VA's Otto Warmbier After North Korea Release

Otto Warmbier, the University of Virginia student detained and released from North Korea, has died, his family said. U.S. officials confirmed he had been released June 13 and his family said he was in a coma and was transported to his home in Cincinnati after being detained for 18 months in North Korea. North Korean officials say he caught botulism, a rare illness caused by bacteria, after the trial. He was given a sleeping pill, and he has been in a coma since. North Korean officials say Warmbier has been in a coma for more than a year, but U.S. officials just learned of his condition on June 5.

Springfield Man Dies In Fairfax County Crash

A Springfield man is dead after a Friday, June 23 morning crash on the Fairfax County Parkway near Braddock Road in Fairfax. The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the southbound direction. Police say a 2003 Honda Civic was traveling north when it crossed over to a 2015 Volkswagen Passat going in the other direction. Three people were hospitalized, one being transported by helicopter. Sayed Osman Sayed, 20, died of injuries, police say.
