A McLean bank was robbed today, according to a report this afternoon from WUSA.

The news station reports that the Bank of America at 1369 Chain Bridge Road in McLean was robbed at gunpoint at about 11 a.m. Friday, the report said.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 50 to 60 years old. The report said he was wearing a disguise but did not say what kind of disguise.

The man fled in a vehicle, WUSA reported.

Fairfax County has seen an uptick in bank robberies; the latest was in Reston on Monday.

After Monday’s bank robbery there were two unsuccessful bank robbery attempts this week: one in Centreville Tuesday night and another today (Wednesday afternoon) in Washington, D.C.

The man who attempted to rob the Centreville bank Tuesday evening was wearing a Halloween mask and arrived after 6 p.m., when the bank was closed and he could not get into the bank, the FBI noted. He pointed a gun toward the lobby where employees were gathered, the FBI said.

A suspect in a Dec. 5 McLean bank robbery also wore a mask.
