Public Safety Heroes Drop In On Inova Children's Patients
Patients at Inova Children's Hospital in Fairfax received a superheroic visit Monday morning from a group of public safety heroes. Volunteers from the Fairfax County fire and police departments, as well as the Herndon Police Department, rappelled down the outside of the hospital building on Gallows Road and greeted patients through their hospital room windows.

1,224 Coronavirus Cases Tied To Virginia Meat, Poultry Plants
On Tuesday, VDH added new data on outbreaks at Virginia's meat and poultry processing plants. To date, 1,224 cases have been identified amid 15 outbreaks.

VA Teen Delivers Pizzas To Thank Fairfax County Fire & Rescue
The Harrity family had faced a similarly scary situation four years earlier when John Harrity was rushed to the hospital with what turned out to be a major heart attack. In late April, Harrity's 17-year-old daughter Jorden Harrity suddenly fainted in the early morning hours, bringing back memories of 2016. Her parents called 911, and she was rushed to the emergency room.

Families involved in a summer camp at Nannie J. Lee Memorial Recreation Center in Alexandria were notified of a coronavirus case, and participating children were advised to self-quarantine.

The annual meteor shower that produces the most fireballs will be at its peak for several nights this week in the skies over northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. The Perseid meteor shower has built to its peak, when 50 to 75 shooting stars an hour may be seen in the night sky.
