Tri-Valley Man 1 of 2 Arrested in Connection with Burglaries in San Ramon
Police are crediting a vigilant resident for giving officers information about the suspects quickly, which lead to the arrests.

Two men were arrested Thursday in connection with burglaries in San Ramon. Derick Lewis, 26, of Livermore, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a dangerous drug and on an arrest warrant for residential burglary.
Transient Daniel McGlaughlin, 31, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, violation of probation, possession of burglary tools and on an arrest warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.
Police were investigating an auto burglary Thursday morning in San Ramon in the area of Marble Canyon Place when a resident told an officer she had seen two suspicious subjects in her neighborhood.

She gave the officer a description of the subjects and told the officer the men had fled the area on foot, police said. Officers located a vehicle left behind in front of a residence by the suspects, who fled the area after being startled by the resident, police said. Police located items in the vehicle that were reported stolen during an earlier theft, and police later discovered the vehicle had been stolen from Livermore.
Officers located Lewis and McGlaughlin on Crow Canyon Road near Camino Ramon and located items stolen from the earlier burglary and from another reported burglary in their possession, police said. Police are investigating whether the suspects were involved in other recent burglaries in the area.

On the same day in nearby Pleasanton, officers pursued a car after a resident reported seeing the suspects reaching into mailboxes. When officers tried to stop the car, the driver fled the area, throwing stolen mail out of the window. The pursuit was terminated when the suspects drove onto the freeway going the wrong direction. The suspects are still at large.
Earlier in the month, officers in Pleasanton arrested three suspects for charges related to stolen identities connected to car burglaries from all over the East Bay after they were reportedly using a fraudulent credit card at a hotel. Two days later, Pleasanton officers arrested an East Bay man on suspicion of auto burglary after he was found hiding in the bushes.
Due to the continued burglaries in Pleasanton, including several on school campuses during daytime hours, police officials issued a warning to all residents to remind them to “hide it, lock it or lose it” in an effort to deter the thefts.
In Danville this week, police detectives are asking for help in identifying two suspects involved in an early morning break-in at the Jamba Juice restaurant on Railroad Avenue. The commercial burglary happened around 3:00 a.m. on Feb. 16.

The San Ramon Police Department said they are encouraging residents to continue to call to report any suspicious activity or suspicious subjects.
Police officials said, “Without the resident’s assistance we would not have had the suspect information, which led to a quick arrest and property being returned to their owners.”
