EAST BAY, CA – A rash of thefts from cars parked in the East Bay have prompted a warning from police. Officials discourage leaving any valuable items visible in cars and ask car owners to lock all doors. Laptops have been the most popular item to steal from cars this season, according to officials. Purses, cash, tools and car registration are also on the list of items reported stolen.
A CHP helicopter and pilots aboard six airplanes landing at Oakland International Airport have reported being struck by lasers on Monday and Tuesday, according to reports. The CHP is investigating.

After months of laptops thefts from customers have been reported in East Bay coffee shops, swarm of juveniles entered a shop and snatched a laptop and an iPhone X this week. They tried to get away on BART but were stopped and eventually arrested. Police said the tactic has become very common for opportunistic thieves and that the problem is not likely to go away.
