2015: Heated First Selectman Campaign; Teen Completed Bucket List; Town Park Grand Opening; Brothers Invent Beer Pong Product

As 2015 comes to a close, we take a look back at some of the highlights from the past year.

Hearts broke in Brookfield for the young, beloved philanthropist Rebecca Draper Townsend. After watching the fireworks display in Danbury with a friend, she was tragically struck and killed by a car, but not before pushing her dear friend out of harm’s way. On her Facebook page Remembering Rebecca, her family shared how she reached out to them from beyond when they found a bucket list note on her bed after her passing.

In school news, the finance director and his assistant were both arrested for allegedly spending more than $130,000 of school funds on personal items. But the year ended on a high note with the Brookfield Bobcats football team winning state championships in their division for the second consecutive year.

In the political arena, Brookfield welcomed a new first selectman after a heated debate. Town officials joined with Brookfield Parks and Rec and the Brookfield Chamber to hold a ribbon cutting for the new Town Park.

In business news, five Brookfield brothers invented a new device to make beer pong playing fun and clean.

The Brookfield Police Department launched a new community action group and their first event, a toy drive, was very successful.

And on a personal note, I shared my very private health crisis in a very public way.
