Shots Fired During North Forsyth Drug Arrest

Law enforcement officers fired shots during a traffic stop that resulted in a drug arrest Tuesday night in north Forsyth County. According to a sheriff’s office spokesman, Vanus Nichols, 34, of Cumming, attempted to strike a deputy with his car, leading to the shooting. “Deputies were forced to open fire on the suspect’s vehicle, to avoid being struck,” according to Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez. >>> read more.

Man Steals $28,000 Diamond From Smyrna Jewelry Store

A man swapped a fake diamond for a real one -- as in, $28,000 worth of real -- and walked right out the front door of a Cobb Parkway jewelry store, while employees looked on. Employees noticed later that he had swapped the real, two-carat diamond with a fake one, resulting in what one worker called “a stomach-dropping experience.” >>> read more.

Duluth Man Killed in Apartment Fire
