We're keeping a close eye on all power outages around the state - some wind gusts of 75 miles per hour have been reported.. Nearly 20,000 are without power, and at one point more than 5,000 in Provincetown were alone.
Schools
You already know schools announced pretty early Wednesday that they'd be closed Thursday. Some schools weren't taking any chances and canceled Friday's classes on Thursday. You can see the developing list of school who have canceled school Friday here. And if you don't already know who closed Thursday, you can see that here.
Roads
Flooding has become a major concern. There is massive flooding in Boston closing several roads and trapping cars. Areas outside of Boston are also shutting down roads.
Drivers are asked to stay off the roads wherever possible. Officials have reduced the speed limit on the Mass. Pike to 40 mph from Boston to the New York border. The breakdown lane on I-93 from the Methuen and Andover area to Wilmington and the I-93 HOV lane from Boston to Quincy will be closed Thursday.
- I-93 was temporarily closed at the Zakim Bridge coming out of the tunnel.
- A car crashed into the Rt. 3 overpass at the Union Street rotary.
- The first major crash of the day was a five-car crash that temporarily shut down I-290 in Shrewsbury.
- Cars in Mansfield are being forced to stop on the road among terribly low visibility.
You don't have many places to drive if you do get on the roads. The South Shore Plaza and Burlington Mall are among those shopping centers having already closed.
Logan Airport
If you are trying to escape to Florida, you're a day late. As of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, 73 percent of all flights departing Logan and a nation-high 67 percent of all incoming flights have been canceled, according to FlightAware.com.
Transit
The MBTA plans on running a relatively normal schedule for most of its services. Of course, the MBTA and winter storms don't often play nice together. You can see the adjusted schedule for Thursday here.
Sports
The Boston Bruins were set to host the Florida Panthers Thursday night at TD Garden, but the game has been postponed.
