Concord Man Pleads Guilty To Gun, Drug Charges In U.S. District Court

CONCORD, NH — A career criminal from Concord will be heading to prison next year after agreeing to plead guilty to drug distribution, possession, firearm, and ammo charges on Monday.

Wayne Smith, 49, a homeless man now located in Concord, pleaded guilty to distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, according to U.S. Attorney Jane Young. His sentencing is scheduled for March 10, 2025.

According to the investigation, New Hampshire State Police received a tip about Smith being involved with meth sales in the Concord area. After an investigation, he was indicted on federal charges in early May. State troopers and Concord police were involved in the investigation, according to officials.

According to court records, Smith is a career criminal, with arrests and convictions dating back more than two decades in the Lakes Region and capital region. Some of his prior convictions include burglary, falsifying physical evidence, receiving stolen property, theft, forgery, acts prohibited, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, assault, criminal mischief, and violation of probation or parole.
