Aaron J. Jones, 40, of Shawmut Street in Concord, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 28, for theft of lost or mislaid property from July 30, 2015, at the McDonald’s Restaurant on South Main Street. According to a court affidavit, an officer was called to the restaurant to take a statement from a woman who reported a stolen wallet. She stated that they were at the Quick Stop store when she realized she left her wallet at McDonald’s and went back to fetch it. When she returned, it was gone. Four people in the restaurant later told her that they saw a man take the wallet. One of the witnesses stated he knew the man because he worked for a local cab company. He alleged that his name was Aaron and he had a tattoo on his face. The officer spoke to a restaurant employee about looking at surveillance video and reportedly was able to see a man with the wallet in his hand leaving the restaurant. The victim later was able to get a full name of the alleged perp – Aaron Jones – and his address. The officer looked up Jones’ previous booking photo from April and allegedly identified him as the man who stole the wallet in the video, according to the court affidavit. On Sept. 5, an officer went to speak with Jones’ employer about the case because he was unable to find him. The employer said that he would speak to Jones and have him return the wallet. Two days later, the officer called the victim and she stated she hadn’t received the wallet yet. The officer then took out a warrant against Jones. He was arrested by Hopkinton Police in 11 days later on the warrant and held without bail.

When the officer arrived, he found the man, later identified as Dearborn, allegedly pouring a Twisted Tea into a Cumberland Farms cup outside of the store. The officer spoke to Dearborn who allegedly stated that he didn’t know that panhandling wasn’t allowed inside the store. When asked if he knew that it wasn’t legal to be drinking alcohol on public property, he allegedly stated, “I’m sorry.” Dearborn had just been arrested earlier in the day and bailed out.
