Patrick B. Lucier, 36, of River View Drive in Franklin, was arrested at 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2023, on a receiving stolen property charge, a felony, due to two prior convictions. Police were sent to Walmart at 344 Loudon Road after receiving a tip about an employee chasing a man through the plaza. The witness accused the man of removing clothes before getting into a vehicle connected to the incident, possibly a white Acura. A sergeant stopped the vehicle on Loudon Road while the officer spoke to an employee about the incident. The employee accused the man of fleeing the store, after being asked to stop, after security sensors began to alert even though they did not have a cart or shopping bag. The officer and the sergeant matched the suspect’s description to the driver of the Acura, later identified as Lucier, an affidavit said. The officer reported several backpacks in the rear of the vehicle and found the clothes the witness said were taken off during the pursuit. Lucier was told there was a video of him fleeing the store and then read his Miranda Rights, agreeing to speak with the officer, the report said, saying he did not buy anything at the store. When asked why he fled when the sensors went off if he didn’t buy anything, he said he was unsure why the sensors were activated. When asked if he had ever been convicted of theft, Lucier said he was out on parole after being convicted of theft, the report stated. Later, the affidavit said, he admitted to stealing tools and agreed to a consent search of a backpack in the vehicle and nothing else. Inside, the officer found a tool set, a six-piece mini-pliers set, and a 50-piece driver and bit set, the officer wrote. Lucier was previously convicted on theft in Merrimack County Superior Court in April 2023 and in Franklin District Court in April 2016.
