CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire State Police continued its effort to check commercial vehicles in the state last week and the latest effort led to 84 violation found during a nine-hour period. Troop G troopers, as part of "Operation Sunrise," checked 33 commercial vehicles driving in Berlin, Gorham, North Conway, Ossipee, and Tamworth in the North Country as well as Rochester and Epping between 3 a.m. and noon on Wednesday. Three of the violations were "so severe" that they created "a condition where the vehicle or its driver was placed out of service," according Staff Sgt. Steven Wheeler of Troop G.

All of the inspections were on non-interstate roadways, he said.

Troop G troopers have received specialized training to conduct roadside inspections of commercial motor vehicles, he stated. During the inspections, five drivers were taken out of service because they weren't licensed properly while one was cited for speeding. One vehicle was taken out of service for safety related violations.
