Crash Leads To DWI Charge, Gun Bail Violation: Trooper Roundup
Man charged with DUI, child endangerment; Derry woman accused of driving 30+ mph over limit while drunk; and troopers still collecting toys.

CONCORD, NH — A Queen City man was arrested and held on charges after a crash in Bow that led to drunken driving and other charges. A state trooper, at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, was sent to an accident report on I-93 South near Mile Marker 33 in Bow. The trooper found a black Ford Explorer, with "extensive damage," in the travel lane of the Interstate.
The driver was identified as James Gerard Tanguay, 20, of Manchester, and a check yielded a domestic violence criminal order protection prohibiting him from possession a firearm, the trooper stated.
"While I was investigating the crash, I noticed a firearm holster on the passenger floorboard of Tanguay's vehicle," the trooper stated. "I asked him where the gun was and he initially told me he did not have a firearm with him."

Dispatch obtained a copy of the order from 2018 that was still active. The trooper asked Tanguay again about the firearm and accused him in a probable cause affidavit of admitting to moving the firearm from the center console of the vehicle and attempting to hide it under the passenger seat, the report stated. He was advised of his rights to refuse a search of the vehicle and "he gave both verbal and written consent to search his vehicle," the trooper stated.
"I located a Ruger 9 mm handgun under the passenger seat of the vehicle," the trooper wrote. "A magazine was inserted into the handgun and it contained 9 mm ammunition."

Tanguay was then arrested on a possession of a firearm and ammunition charge in violation of the order.
While in the cruiser, the trooper accused Tanguay of smelling like alcohol and having bloodshot, watery eyes. He was asked to perform a field sobriety test.
"It was my opinion that Tanguay was impaired," the trooper wrote, adding, "the result of a breath test was 0.09 percent BrAc."
Tanguay was driven straight to county and held. He was charged with DUI, DUI-minor greater than 0.02, and two breach of bail charges, and an unsafe lane change violation.
