WATCH: Concord Candidates Discuss DES Building Purchase
Was it a good idea or a bad idea? Three at-large city council candidates and a candidate for mayor share their thoughts.

On Oct. 27, 2015, Ward 2 Councilor Allan Herschlag and state Rep. Paul Henle hosted a forum at The Newell Post on Fisherville Road for the candidates running for mayor and at-large city councilor.
All the candidates were invited to participate. Jim Bouley, a candidate for mayor, as well as Jim Baer, Shawn Riley, and Steve Shurtleff, three of the five candidates running for two four-year at-large seats on the council, chose to attend.
In this clip, the candidates were as whether or not the purchase of the DES Building on South Main Street by the city was a good idea. In 2012, the city began a process with the state to purchase the building for $1.7 million. Since it was shuttered last year, it’s been vacant. 2014, two potential developers submitted plans to the city but both were rejected.
