Same-Day Registration, Voter ID Laws

New Hampshire has same-day voter registration. To register, a voter must provide proof of identity, age, citizenship, and domicile, by driver's license/non-driver ID, birth certificate, U.S. Passport or Passcard, or naturalization documentation. If someone does not have that information, they will be allowed to vote by signing a qualified voter affidavit, under oath, and will be asked after the election to provide documentation.

More information can be found here. Here are links explaining the Voter ID law as well as an explanatory document.

College students, "visiting professionals," and others who don't live in New Hampshire but may want to vote in the primary (instead of filing an absentee ballot from their homes) need to know that the act of registering to vote in the state establishes residency. By law, anyone voting/establishing residency must obtain a New Hampshire driver's license and register any vehicle they own in the state within 60 days of voting/establishing residency.

The Secretary of State's Office and the commissioner of the Department of Safety have more information about that provision here.
