Three Arrested At Portsmouth Sobriety Checkpoint
Salem and Stratham residents were arrested on Market Street this weekend at a Seacoast checkpoint that screened nearly 300 drivers.
PORTSMOUTH, NH — The Portsmouth Police Department’s sobriety checkpoint this weekend led to three arrests, according to a press statement from Lt. Michael Maloney. The checkpoint was held between 10 p.m. on July 28, and 3 a.m. on July 29, 2017, at 500 Market St. in Portsmouth. Two were arrested on driving while intoxicated charges: Faisal Gurwala, pictured upper left, 29, of Montrose Drive in Stratham, and Jennifer Merrill, 42, of Alderwood Drive in Stratham.

“The checkpoint, which was authorized by the Rockingham County Superior Court, screened drivers heading outbound on Market Street,” Maloney noted. “289 drivers were screened and 3 adults were arrested.”
