Another DWI Checkpoint Held in NH Next Weekend
State, local police are conducting sobriety checkpoints around the state.

SALEM, NH — The New Hampshire State Police announced on Friday that troopers and local officers in the Salem Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the community sometime during the weekend of Aug. 19, 2016. The checkpoint will be organized by Troop B troopers out of Bedford as well as local officers.
“The checkpoint is authorized by the Rockingham County Superior Court, and will be conducted under guidelines promulgated by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office,” according to Sgt. Steven Callinan of the NHSP.

Other sobriety checkpoints upcoming in the future include one in the Portsmouth area this week.
The New Hampshire State Police and the Salem Police consider the identification and apprehension of impaired drivers and enforcement of the driving while intoxicated statutes to be a top priority, he noted.

“Sobriety checkpoints are one of the best methods of deterring the impaired driver,” Callinan said.
