McKenna Students Take First Place at Cradle of Aviation Maglev Competition
Young Massapequa students show off their innovation skills.

The McKenna sixth-grade Magnet students participated in the Maglev Competition held at the Cradle of Aviation.
The students used math, science, and technology principles to design and create magnetic levitation vehicles to compete in one of five categories.
The McKenna students all entered the gravity contest. They constructed a vehicle that traveled the length of the track under the force of gravity. The students had to determine the best vehicle design to carry the most pennies (passengers) at the fastest speed while using the least amount of magnets. Kaela Brunner and Tara McWilliams won first place for their vehicle in the competition.
