Two More Long Island Stores Targeted By Knife-Wielding Robber

Two more Long Island stores, one in North Merrick and one in Lynbrook, were both targeted by the knife-wielding robber that has been targeting stores across the Island since February.

According to police, both incidents occurred on Saturday, April 15. The first, an attempted robbery in North Merrick, happened at 7:09 p.m.

Police said the robber entered a Subway at 1341 Jerusalem Ave. and took out a large kitchen knife as the approached the 55-year-old man behind the counter and demanded money. The employee hit the panic alarm, and the robber fled the store.

The second robbery occurred just two hours later in Lynbrook. Police say the knife-wielding robber entered TCBY, located at 653 Sunrise Highway, at 9:10 p.m. He approached the 19-year-old female employee and demanded money. The employee gave him money and he fled, and was last seen on foot heading toward Broadway.

The robber is described as 5 -foot-8 with an average build, wearing a dark hat, dark jacket, blue jeans, white sneakers, a gray scarf covering his face and gray gloves.

Nassau police ask that anyone with any information about these crimes to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous. In addition, Suffolk County Police announced they will be offering a $5,000 reward for any information on the serial robber.
