Writing has been my passion for longer than I can remember, but it was years before I learned one could actually make a living doing it.  After earning my BA in English and Theater at Colby College in Waterville, ME, I headed to Boston University for an MS in journalism.  I graduated in 2003 and have never looked back. I love the thrill that comes from breaking news.  I love digging deep and learning about people and places I might never otherwise explore.  I love the varied experiences writing has allowed me to have and the fact that no two days are ever alike in the life of a writer.  I have worked at daily newspapers, universities and as a freelancer.  My work has appeared in the New York Times, Parents, Parenting, Runner&#39;s World and many other magazines and newspapers.  <br> <br>Currently, I live just outside of Arlington in Somerville, but my husband and I do aspire to move to Arlington in the not-too-distant future with our young children who will be school age in just a couple years.  <br> <br>In my spare time, I run marathons and half marathons.  My PR in a marathon is 3:48.  My PR in a half is 1:45.  I am hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon in the not too distant future.

I am looking forward to exploring Arlington and becoming part of the community.     

Your Beliefs

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. POLITICS

I was raised a die-hard Democrat and still tend to lean that way, although I have surprised myself in recent years by becoming more and more conservative, but I am a registered Democrat.

 RELIGION

I was raised in a secular Jewish household. My husband was raised Southern Baptist. At this point, neither of us are religious or very interested in pursuing it.

 LOCAL HOT-BUTTON ISSUES:

Currently, the schools and the $4 million deficit is probably the most pressing issue. I will watch the Bridge the Gap efforts with great interest.  In addition, projects like the Mass. Ave corridor and the efforts of local cyclists to improve safety are worth noting.
