Coronavirus: DC Residents Must Self-Quarantine After Traveling

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser signed a mayor's order Friday requiring District residents to self-quarantine when they return home after traveling to high-risk areas. These include places around the U.S. where the number of coronavirus cases are increasing. The order will go into effect on Monday.

Robert E. Lee Statue Removed From Virginia Capitol Overnight

House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, D-Fairfax, oversaw the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from the state Capitol overnight Thursday along with busts and artifacts representing eight men who served in the Confederacy.

VA Coronavirus Cases Up By 1,127, Highest Daily Increase In July

The Virginia Department of Health reported 1,127 additional coronavirus cases Friday, representing the highest daily increase in July. Northern Virginia, the state's most populous region, accounted for just 203 of these new cases. The latest cumulative totals statewide are 82,364 cases, 7,515 hospitalizations and 2,067 deaths.

Capital Area Food Bank Alters Its Operations Due To Coronavirus

The Capital Area Food Bank addresses the issue of food insecurity in the greater Washington, D.C. area. It provides food to the more than 400,000 individuals with the help of over 450 non-profit partners, such as soup kitchens and pantries. In a typical year, the food bank provides about 30 million meals to its network of partners.

22-Year-Old Man Stabbed While Walking Dog In Manassas: Police

A 22-year-old man was stabbed while walking his dog early Friday morning in the area of the Old Centreville Garden Apartments in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The man is expected to survive the injuries from the stabbing.
