Dog Killed In Shooting Amid Dispute In Mount Vernon: Police

Police responded to numerous notable incidents in the Mount Vernon police district this week.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — A dog was killed during a shooting Wednesday in Mount Vernon, according to Fairfax County Police.

The incident happened around 4:32 p.m. in the 8200 block of McClelland Place. According to police, three men appeared outside the victim's home, and one tried to kick open the door. The victim opened the door, leading a man to shoot at him and struck the victim's dog. The dog died of the injuries, and no other injuries were reported.

The suspect left the area in a car. Police believe the incident was not random and that the men were involved in a dispute. No charges have been announced.

Stabbing: 2700 block of Woodwalk Court, 12/06/20, 8:41 p.m. A man was stabbed in the upper body during a confrontation with another man inside an apartment. The suspect left the area. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were life-threatening.

Malicious wounding: 2800 Beacon Hill Road (7-Eleven), 12/04/20, 7:25 p.m. A store clerk attempted to stop a man from stealing merchandise. A woman entered the store and pepper sprayed the clerk, as well as a witness, which allowed the man and woman to walk away from the store. Officers located the two nearby and charged Olympia Dade, 38, of Alexandria with malicious injury by caustic substance and Christopher Holloway, 36, of Manassas with false identification to avoid arrest and drunk in public. He was also served with warrants from another jurisdiction.

Bank robbery: 6201 Richmond Highway (CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union), 12/9/20, 3:40 p.m. A man entered the bank, jumped over the counter and took cash. No injuries were reported.

Commercial Robbery: 2917 Arlington Drive (Dollar and More Superstore), 12/10/20, 7:59 p.m. A man entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money. He walked away from the store after taking cash. No injuries were reported.
