The father of a Virginia teen accused of killing his mother and 6-year-old brother earlier this year was found dead in his home on Monday, according to a statement released by the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Tuesday.

A food service worker who was preparing free meals at Stonewall Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, Prince William County Public School officials announced in an email to parents Monday night.

Virginia Coronavirus Data Shows Breakdown By County; 9.6K Cases

The Virginia Department of Health has made data available on cases of the new coronavirus by county and independent city, as well as the share of laboratory-confirmed and "probable" cases. As of Tuesday, Virginia reported 9,630 cases of the new coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 illness. The state confirmed 1,581 hospitalizations and 324 deaths. That's an increase of 640 cases and 24 deaths since Monday.

DC Crime Rates Drop During Coronavirus Pandemic

Property crimes in D.C. dropped 39 percent during the first 30 days of the coronavirus emergency, according to Mayor Muriel Bowser. In addition, violent crimes have dropped 3 percent during the same timeframe. Compared to the same time period in 2019, property crimes are down 31 percent and violent crimes are down 14 percent.

Internet Predator Sting Operation Snares 30 Suspects In Fairfax

Detectives from Fairfax County's Major Crimes and Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureaus arrested 30 men earlier this month as part of "Operation COVID Crackdown," a sting operation to identify and apprehend predators using the internet to exploit children, according to a police news release.

Arlington Lab Collects 1,484 Coronavirus Samples In First 30 Days

When Arlington County's drive-thru coronavirus sample collection facility opened on March 18, staff members collected 60 samples that first day. A month later the facility, which came together as a joint effort of the Arlington County Health Department and Virginia Hospital Center, is collecting nearly double that number daily.
